About DUTTON-LAINSON

Dutton-Lainson winches like brake winches, worm gear winches and pulling winches are used for multipurpose lifting & pulling operations where we can not use a motorised winch system.
Dutton-Lainson hand winches feature rigid, welded reel construction and laminated, high carbon steel gears that are heat-treated for added durability & increased strength. They come equipped with heavy-duty steel handles with ergonomic moulded grips for reduced user fatigue and permanently lubricated bearings for low maintenance. These Dutton-Lainson winches have zinc plated TUFFPLATE finish or powder-coated copper bronze finish on their hardware for durability and rust resistance.
Dutton-Lainson pulling winches are ideal for horizontal pulling applications. They have spur gears for parallel transfer of power from the crank handle to reel. Dutton-Lainson DL Series hand / manual winches ensure easy removal of lines by freewheeling when their ratchet pawl is disengaged.
Dutton-Lainson worm gear winches are used for both horizontal pulling and vertical lifting of loads. Their reel stops turning automatically to lock the load in place when the user stops cranking due to their worm gear mechanism.
Dutton-Lainson brake winches (DLB-series brake winches) use a spur gear mechanism to vertically lift or horizontally pull loads. They feature a fully automatic friction brake with constant, positive holding action to stop load lifting / pulling and prevent runaway loads when the handle is released. Dutton-Lainson also supplies heavy-duty brake winches (B Series winches) having a similar operating mechanism & function, but with a higher frequency and working duration.
Choose from a wide range of the aforementioned hand winches, along with wheel bearings, tongue jacks, grease guns, oilers & other accessories / replacement parts on Raptor Supplies.

Things To Consider

Cross-Reference Alternatives

Dutton-Lainson winches generally cross individual reference to the equivalent Dayton, Fervi, Supco, Thern & Vestil hand winches. So, if you're looking for competitor winches that are either out of stock or obsolete, chances are Raptor Supplies has the equivalent Dutton-Lainson winches available.

Shipping

These Dutton-Lainson winches are small in size, require compact packaging and are suitable for courier shipment and not air freight.

DUTTON-LAINSON Competitive Advantages

Reversible Ratchet On Pulling Winches

Dutton Lainson has developed and patented a reversible ratchet that performs the same function as a two-way ratchet but is easier to operate in pulling winches. Users can choose the direction to wind the line onto the reel (off the top or bottom of the reel). They simply have to remove the ratchet parts from the winches, reverse the ratchet direction and re-install them on the winches with the desired direction of cable/strap winding.

TUFFPLATE Plated Finish

Dutton Lainson provides zinc plated TUFFPLATE finish on all its plated products, providing 3 times more resistance to corrosion than standard zinc plating and 30% greater corrosion resistance than powder coating. Its application process includes the addition of an extra thick layer of zinc, a trivalent chrome conversion layer and a high-quality sealer for brightness and extra protection against corrosion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can users install high strength synthetic rope on Dutton Lainson (D-L) winches?

No, high strength synthetic ropes are generally not recommended for Dutton Lainson / D-L winches as they are extremely slippery and may cause severe damage to the winch, user or the load.

What does "two-speed" mean in two-speed winches?

A two-speed winch provides a choice between two drive shafts (low and high gears). The lower gear is ideal for steep winding or other difficult situations, whereas the higher gear allows faster operation. Users can change gears easily by removing the handle and installing it on the other drive shaft without using any tools.

What does gear ratio mean on a Dutton-Lainson winch?

Gear ratio refers to the number of revolutions a winch handle takes to turn its spool once. For example, a winch having a 4:1 gear ratio means that the users have to turn the winch handle four times to turn the spool 360 degrees.

Is a pulling winch suitable for vertical lifting?

No, a pulling winch is not suitable for the vertical lifting of loads. Vertical lifting applications should always involve a self-locking winch like DLB Series / B Series brake winches or worm gear winches that prevent the free-wheeling of the load.

What type of grease should be used with Dutton Lainson products?

Dutton Lainson products come pre-lubricated with Lucas Oil Products? blue marine grease. Users can use the same grease or any good high-pressure marine grease when lubricating their Dutton Lainson product.

What does a micron size rating mean on a Goldenrod fuel filter element?

Micron size rating on a fuel filter element refers to the minimum size of contaminants that can be removed by the filter. The smaller the micron rating, the faster the filter element fills up due to quick debris buildup. However, filters having a larger micron rating allow larger contaminants to pass through the system. Users should choose the micron size of the fuel filter element according to the application requirements.
