About MERCOID

The company's catalogue includes submersible level transmitters, digital pressure vacuum gauges and pressure & vacuum switches. Mercoid pressure switches are used for actuating one or two SPDT snap switches in response to decreasing / increasing the pressure of compatible liquids or gases. These switches feature a rolling diaphragm design for maintaining an effective area to reduce friction, thereby delivering the deadband as low as 5% of full-scale. Both deadband and setpoint adjustments of these switches are fully isolated from the electrical components for added safety and are capable of withstanding pressures up to 500 psi.

MERCOID Competitive Advantages

Mercoid DA Series Pressure Switches

These highly sensitive pressure switches are used to turn ON the main pumps when system pressure falls due to activation of sprinkler heads and smaller make-up pumps for maintaining system pressure. They provide independent low & high setpoints over the entire pressure range for maintaining the minimum pressure needed for proper system operation and to prevent damage due to the over-pressurization of the system. These switches feature a screw terminal connection for added safety and allow vertical mounting for easy installation. They are CE, CSA, FM & UL approved and can be operated at temperatures up to 180 degrees F.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a flow switch and a pressure switch?

One visible difference between pressure switches and paddle flow switches is the lack of a paddle. Pressure switches have no parts that reach the open pipe.

What are submersible level transmitters?

Submersible level transmitters are pressure transmitters used for measuring hydro-static pressure from inside the fluid.

How does a Mercoid pressure switch work?

  • A Mercoid switch utilises a pressure-sensitive diaphragm connected to a set of electrical contacts.
  • When the pressure in the system changes, the diaphragm moves and activates the electrical contacts, which sends a signal to control the on / off functions of the equipment.
  • The pressure at which the switch is activated is called a set point and the pressure threshold when the switch gets deactivated is called a cut-out point.

What is a Mercoid pressure switch?

Mercoid pressure switches control electrical equipment in various industrial and commercial applications. They detect changes in pressure and convert the pressure into an electrical signal to control the activity of the system. These pressure-sensitive switches control the device at a specific pressure setting and their sensitivity can be set to detect different pressure levels for accurate results.

What are the different types of Mercoid pressure switches?

  • Differential pressure switches: These units detect pressure differences between two points in a system and control the flow of fluids.
  • Vacuum pressure switches: These switches detect low-pressure levels in vacuum systems and control the on / off function of the equipment.
  • High-pressure switches: These units detect high-pressure levels in hydraulic and pneumatic systems and control related equipment.
  • Adjustable differential pressure switches: These switches allow easy adjustment to detect different pressure levels, ideal for HVAC and other applications where pressure needs to be controlled.
  • High and low-pressure switches: These switches detect both high and low-pressure levels in a system and control equipment.
