They have stainless steel or steel construction with a chrome / epoxy / zinc polish for corrosion resistance and durability. These shelving units feature open wide design for preventing dust accumulation and improving visibility. Wire shelves are generally easier to clean as they do not accumulate spills or dust as easily as solid wooden shelves. Wire shelving are especially suitable in fire-prone areas where fire prevention is important. Their open design allows proper functioning of sprinklers whereas solid shelving may block water flow.
Plating or coating on these wire shelving extends the units' operating life in exposed weather conditions by preventing wear & corrosion and offering them an aesthetic look. Chrome plating is suitable for dry storage applications, whereas epoxy coating is suitable for wet or humid environments.
