A photoelectric sensor with optical fibre has no electrical parts. Hence, it can be used in hazardous, explosion-proof areas. However, the lens, case and fibre are made of plastic and must be free from corrosion or deterioration (fogging) due to contact with solvents.
PSD (position sensitive device) and the dual photodiode are used for the light receiving element. The distance to the sensing object is judged by detecting the reflected light spot position on the light receiving element.
These sensors are available in forward and right-angle view options and can be intermixed in any combination to fit the desired application. The long-range models feature a visible sensing beam to simplify installation and alignment. They are available in 20 and 80 ft sizes.
