EATON D93 Series Solid-State Relays

Eaton D93 Series solid-state relays are designed to control the flow of current in most industrial applications, including HVAC systems, lighting & motor control. They offer overvoltage protection during voltage surges and have low leakage current to help reduce power consumption & heat dissipa...tion. They also include an IP20 enclosure that provides a level of protection against dust, moisture and other environmental factors to prevent damage to the device. Read more

Working Mechanism

  • These relays include semiconductor diodes, transistors and thyristors to control the flow of electrical current.
  • When the relay receives a low-voltage DC signal, the relay's control circuit processes the signal immediately.
  • An optoisolator then separates the low-voltage control signal from the high-voltage signal.
  • Once these signals are isolated, the output circuit of the solid-state relay is activated.
  • The output circuit having a thyristor is now able to handle high currents and voltages.
  • As the output circuit is activated, the thyristor allows current to flow through the load circuit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is zero-cross-switching?

Zero-cross switching is a method that allows rapid on-and-off switching of these relays when the voltage across the load is close to zero. This helps to minimise electrical noise and extend the life of the switching device.

How do I maintain my solid-state relay?

Solid-state relays have no moving parts. Hence, they require little to no maintenance, making these relays perfect for harsh conditions.

What is the function of an LED indicator?

The LED indicator serves as a visual indication of the relay's status. The LED is located on the input side of the solid-state relay. When a control signal is applied to the relay, the LED lights up (showing a green colour), indicating that the relay is activated and ready to switch the load.
