Working Mechanism

  • DC contactors work by using an electromagnetic coil to control the flow of electric current through a set of contacts.
  • The coil is energized by a DC voltage, which creates a magnetic field that pulls a movable contact towards a fixed contact, closing the circuit and allowing current to flow.

Standards and Approvals

  • UL
  • CSA

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between AC and DC contactors?

The maximum operating frequency for a DC contactor is 1200 times per hour and the maximum operating frequency for an AC contactor is 600 times per hour.

What is the difference between a relay and a contactor?

Relays control contacts of an electrical circuit due to parameters or conditions in the same or other associated circuits. Contactors interrupt or establish connections in an electrical circuit repeatedly under different conditions.
