Working Mechanism

  • Current switches are set to trip at an overcurrent or undercurrent condition.
  • Whenever there is a change in current, the sensor sends an output notifying users about unwanted events.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the setpoints for these switches adjustable or fixed?

Eaton offers both fixed and adjustable setpoint AC switches.

How to adjust the setpoint of these switches?

The CurrentWatch ECS Series switches' setpoint is adjusted with a four / fifteen-turn potentiometer.

  • Turn the pot to the minimum setpoint (four or fifteen turns clockwise).
  • Run the switch's normal operating current through it.
  • The output should be tripped, since the pot is at its minimum setpoint.
  • Until the LED begins to flash slowly, rotate the pot counterclockwise until the device un-trips.
  • Now turn the pot clockwise slowly until the unit trips again.
  • It is now set at the current level being monitored.

How to wire these switches?

Users can connect, control or monitor the sensor by using up to 14 AWG copper wires.

What is the response time of Eaton CurrentWatch current switches?

Their response time is 120 milliseconds.
