Rotary Vane Vacuum Pumps

Gast rotary vane vacuum pumps & compressors are designed for continuous-duty & low-pressure pumping applications. They feature a 50 / 60 Hz, eccentrically placed motor capable of producing power up to 1.5 HP. The pumps are permanently lubricated via an oil chamber and have self-adjusting & self-lubricating vanes, as well as a 10 ft power cord. These rotary vane vacuum pumps are available in port sizes of 3/8, 1/4 and 3/4 inch NPT on Raptor Supplies.

Working Mechanism

  • As the flat vanes rotate in a cylindrical housing, a pumping mechanism takes place.
  • An eccentrically mounted rotor turns and the vanes slide in and out of their slots by centrifugal and pressure-loading forces.
  • This process creates a series of air compartments of unequal volume against the wall of the housing.
  • These compartments get larger during the suction part of the cycle, creating a vacuum at the intake port and smaller during the discharge portion of the cycle, creating pressure at the exhaust port.

Features

  • They include a 50 / 60 Hz, eccentrically placed motor for pulse-free air flow with a maximum speed of 1725 RPM.
  • They feature a compact design to allow easy installation, low starting & running torque and minimal vibrations during operation.
  • They come with thermal protectors to dissipate the heat generated by continuous motor operation and prevent motor failure.
  • These combination pumps are integrated with filters to trap contaminants and particulate that might infiltrate the airflow, providing clean air all the time.
  • They draw air into the air chamber where rotating vanes generate air pressure and vacuum and are permanently lubricated via the oil chamber to keep the components moving smoothly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the airflow pulse-free?

The vacuum and pressure flow is free of pulsation because the inlet and exhaust ports do not have valves and the air moves continuously rather than intermittently.

What is the advantage of a muffler?

These pumps include a muffler to suppress sound and allow low operating noise levels up to 38 dB

What are rotary vane pumps used for?

These pumps are used in high-pressure hydraulic pumps and in automobiles, such as supercharging, power steering and air conditioning. They are also used in mid-range pressures, including carbonators for fountain soft-drink dispensers and espresso coffee machines.

What is the purpose of oil-free design?

The oil-free design compressor does not use any lubrication in the compression / vacuum chamber. Instead, they are coated in special friction-reducing chemicals designed to be self-lubricating, preventing the wear of critical components.

Do these Gast rotary vane pumps come in single phase supply variants only?

Most of the rotary vane pumps are available in single phase but the brand's 7Z783 & 1423-103Q-G625 units are available in three-phase configuration.
