Working Mechanism

  • The welding torches & TIG sets produce a high-intensity arc between the workpiece and the tungsten electrode.
  • The arc produced generates high heat to join metal pieces.
  • These torches are connected to the TIG welding sets using torch cables. The TIG welding sets are further connected to gas supply cylinders.
  • The TIG welding sets are supplied with three-phase AC electrical power.
  • The welding operation with these torches is controlled through the switches on the TIG welding sets.

Features

  • They have an air-cooled design for eliminating the requirement of water cooling systems at remote locations.
  • Their heavy copper construction offers high welding capacity for extended durations.
  • They feature a flexible neck for adjusting to any angle, enabling torch control in tough to reach spaces and limited access joints.
  • Their built-in gas control valve ensures easy and quick adjustment of shielding gas flow during operation.
  • The ribbed handle & torch design ensures user comfort and firm grip throughout the operation.
  • Selected Miller-Weldcraft torches feature Diamond Grip head design with contact points for fingers and thumb, providing a comfortable grip.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can we hook wire feeders to the TIG machines?

TIG machines are constant current power sources and do not require an external wire feeder.

What are different TIG torch sizes?

TIG torches have various set sizes, including numbers 9, 17, 18 and 26.

How are air-cooled torches different from water-cooled counterparts?

Air-cooled torches take longer to cool and are not designed for handling super high temperatures like water-cooled torches. Air-cooled torches are meant for thin-walled materials, whereas water-cooled torches can be used for heavy / thick-walled workpieces.

What are the gases used with TIG welding torches?

Shielding gases like helium, argon, carbon dioxide etc., are used with Miller-Weldcraft torches.

What kind of electrodes are used for welding torches?

Tungsten electrodes are used with welding torches.

Can we use other electrodes with welding torches?

Tungsten electrodes withstand very high temperatures with minimum erosion or melting. That is why tungsten electrodes are most suitable for TIG welding.
