Screwdriver Sets

Proto DuraTek Series screwdriver sets are used for installing and removing screws in metalwork, woodwork and carpentry applications. They are provided in sets of 4, 6 and 9 units. Featuring quad-lobe handle design with 360-degree texture for secure grip, these screwdriver sets are designed to meet even the most demanding heavy-duty needs of maintenance and assembly applications. Their handles are impact & chemical resistant that can be used with most harsh chemicals, including hydraulic fluids of the aerospace industry. The steel shanks are heat-treated through their entire length for strength against twisting and bending of screwdrivers when placed under torque. They feature tips that are plated with a black oxide finish to effectively prevent chrome peeling. Proto screwdriver sets meet or exceed ASME B107.15 standards.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a hex key screwdriver used for?

A hexagon key / Allen key screwdriver is used for driving bolts and screws with hexagonal sockets.

Why are Phillips screwdrivers commonly used?

Most factories and handymen use Phillips screwdrivers as they allow a tighter fit than flat head screwdrivers.

What are the different screw drive styles of Proto screwdriver sets?

  • Hex: They can be tightened using a hex driver or Allen key. The 6-pointed hole prevents the driver from sliding off the fastener when it is turned, so do not overtighten.
  • Torx: They make a 6-point groove that turns with lesser force than other internal drives. Using a Torx driver will prevent them from slipping. Avoid over-tightening them.
  • Square: They can be tightened with a square driver or key. The deep, 4-point hole prevents the square driver from slipping while you turn the screw. Do not overtighten.
  • Keystone / Cabinet (Slotted): They feature a narrow opening to fit flat-head drive tools.
  • Phillips: They have a cross shape at the centre to prevent the screw from going out of place when driven.
