THOMSON Ball Bushing

Thomson Super Smart Ball Bushing bearings reduce friction for free linear movement on a hardened steel shaft. Their low coefficient of friction makes them suitable for small motors, belts and gears.

Ball Bushing

Thomson ball bushings are used for providing support to linear motion shafts and feature polymer retainers & outer sleeves for delivering a quiet, smooth & low-friction linear motion (coefficient of friction as low as 0.001). They are integrated with self-aligning property for optimised load distribution between the ball tracks and ensuring continuous-duty motion of the shaft. These Super Ball Bushing bearings further provide a diametrical fit when installed on slightly out-of-round housings and offer 6 times the load capacity or 216 times the travel performance, as compared to Thomson conventional steel linear ball bushings. Choose from a wide range of these closed ball bushings available in 0.625 & 1.000 inch / 16mm bore diameters on Raptor Supplies.

Features

  • Thomson bearings' outer sleeve and ball retainer are made of Delrin (polyoxymethylene) for strength & dimensional stability.
  • Their balls are made of chrome steel for high load capacity and resistance to wear & corrosion.
  • These Super Smart Ball Bushing bearings feature a self-alignment ability to make up for imperfect installation up to 0.5 degrees per inch.
  • Their bearing plates move radially to prevent skewing relative to the 60 Case LinearRace shaft.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum operating temperature of these bearings?

185 degrees F.

Are these bearings better than conventional linear ball bushing bearings?

Thompson Super Smart Ball Bushing bearings have six times higher load capacity than conventional linear ball bushing bearings.

How do these bearings self-align after installation?

Their bearing plate's outer surface radius is smaller than the precision ring's inside radius. This design allows the plate to evenly distribute the load on both the ball tracks and minimise housing bore & shaft deflection.
