Product Details:

Vertical hold down clampsuse straight handles positioned perpendicular to the base (when in locked position) to push the clamping arms or the attached spindles against the workpieces for secure clamping. These manual clamps are ideal for applications requiring repeated clamping / detaching of the workpieces throughout the operations. Destaco 528 Seriesvertical hold down clamps are used to hold workpieces against flat surfaces for checking fixtures, light machining, assembly & welding operations. These manual toggle clamps have steel construction for heavy-duty applications and minimising damage / wear due to abrasive conditions. They feature a solid clamping bar that can be modified to accommodate diverse application requirements. These clamps have hardened steel bushings at pivot points for heavy-duty operation. Destaco 528 hold down clamp features flange mounting for installation of the clamp on horizontal surfaces. Raptor Supplies also offers this clamp in variants having front mount flange base for installation of the clamp on vertical surfaces at the front side of the clamp.

Uses:

  • This Destaco 528 vertical hold down clamp is used for checking fixtures, welding, assembly & testing, light machining and medium to heavy clamping applications in the aerospace, consumer goods, transportation, automotive and food & packaging industries.

Features:

  • Destaco 528 vertical hold down clamp has heavy-duty carbon steel construction for strength, durability and preventing bending / breaking under heavy loads.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. What other variants of Destaco 528 clamp are available on Raptor Supplies?

A. Raptor Supplies offers similar manual clamps with a front mount flange base (528-F) for installation of an equipment on front vertical surface of the clamp.

Q. How do vertical hold down clamps work?

A. Vertical hold down clamps are manually operated using vertical handles / levers to move their clamping arms or the attached spindles against the workpieces and prevent them from moving mid-operation for secure clamping.

Q. What is the difference between a vertical & horizontal toggle clamp?

A. The difference between vertical & horizontal toggle clamps can be easily noticed by the locking position of the clamp handles. Vertical clamp handles are vertically or perpendicularly positioned to the base in locked position, whereas the horizontal toggle clamps are positioned horizontally or parallel to the base.

Q. What does holding capacity mean in terms of clamps?

A. The term "holding capacity" or the holding force is the capability of the clamp to hold down an equipment, workpiece or a sheet metal in assembly line or other similar manufacturing operations.

Q. How is clamping force different from the holding force / capacity?

A. Clamping force or exerting force denotes the actual force exerted by the clamp onto the workpieces for holding them. The measure of holding force or capacity indicates the ideal strength of the clamp measured during its manufacturing process. The clamping force is generally lesser than the holding capacity due to several factors like the position of spindles in clamping bars and the opposing force applied on the clamp.

Q. Which are the recommended coupling greases for use with Destaco clamps when servicing?

A. Lubricants like Mobil XTC are recommended for use with Destaco manual clamps during their rebuilding or maintenance process.

Q. Are Destaco clamps rust resistant?

A. Yes, All of the Destaco carbon steel clamps are zinc plated to resist & reduce wear & tear due to harsh industrial environments. Destaco also offers stainless steel clamps for applications requiring clamping operation in outdoor situations.

Q. Are Destaco clamps load-rated for hoisting and / or lifting applications?

A. Destaco clamps are not designed for hoisting or lifting applications and can only handle clamping requirements up to a certain maximum weight on their clamping arms to provide safe & secure operation.

Q. Does Destaco deliver customised or special versions of their clamps according to customer requirements / applications?

A. Destaco can supply customised versions of their clamps upon request. The customisations can range from different colours of handles to the removal of the Destaco logo from the clamps.
