Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. How do you install a snap ring?

A.

  • Insert the plier tips into the holes at the snap ring's end.
  • Open the pliers so that the arms of the snap ring are pulled back and the ring's loop widens.
  • Place the expanded snap ring over the wheel's groove.
  • Gently close the pliers until the ring rests in the groove.
  • Withdraw the pliers' tips from the snap ring's holes to allow the ring to snap into the groove.
  • If the snap ring is not properly seated within the groove, it will snap off.

Q. How do you open a retaining ring?

A. To take out a retaining ring, use a screwdriver or staple remover for prying out the end and spiralling the ring out.

Q. What are the safety points one should be aware of while using pliers?

A.

  • Use safety goggles.
  • On electrical circuits, do not use pliers with cushion grips because there is no insulation to protect you.
  • Extenders and cheater bars should not be used on plier handles.
  • When using retaining ring pliers, protect yourself and bystanders from flying objects.
  • Cut the wire near the hinge at the base of the jaw, not at the tip.
  • Prevent excessive heat exposure.
