Centre punches are used to mark the centre point, especially when drilling holes, for precision.
Taper punches are ideal for aligning existing holes in two or more work pieces prior to bolting or riveting. However, roll pin punches, also known as pilot punches, are used to drive or remove hollow tension pins, such as tapered and rolled or solid pins.
They are mostly made of high carbon steel that has been heat treated.
