Features

  • Miller Weldcraft TIG torches are ideal for connecting to TIG welders, tungsten electrodes & other accessories, and welding together similar metal pieces.
  • Miller Weldcraft TIG torch bodies can either be rigid or flexible for targeted application requirements.
  • Selected models of torch bodies are integrated with a gas valve for controlling the flow of shielding / inert gas through their nozzles.
  • Raptor Supplies also supplies both air & water cooled Miller Weldcraft TIG torches with their respective kits for quick welding operation upon connecting with TIG welders.
  • Miller Weldcraft TIG torch kits either contain only a rubber hose or an assortment of accessories, such as a gas lens, flowmeter / regulator & work clamp.

Working Mechanism

  • Miller Weldcraft TIG torches are attached to a tungsten electrode and then connected to a compatible TIG welder for supplying required current via the temperature-resistant & non-consumable electrode.
  • This electrode, when supplied with current, creates an arc for heating & melting the metal workpieces together.
  • Users should control the position of Miller Weldcraft TIG torches for proper weld.
  • The torches also provide shielding / inert / non-reactive gas through the nozzle around the electrode for keeping contaminants out of the molten weld pool and preventing chemical reactions of heated metals with ambient air. This prevents the formation of pores, cracks or spatter in the welded joint of the workpiece.
  • Selected applications may require the addition of filler materials as the tungsten electrode does not melt & act as a filler, unlike the electrodes during MIG welding.

Standards and Approvals

  • ISO 9001:2015
  • OSHA
  • ANSI Standard Z49.1

Frequently Asked Questions

What are some compatible accessories suitable for use with Miller Weldcraft TIG torches?

  • Miller Electric power source packages: These Miller Electric power sources provide AC or DC power and inert gas supply to Miller Weldcraft TIG torches.
  • Tungsten packages: These tungsten electrode packages are attached to Miller Weldcraft TIG torches for forming welding arcs between themselves & the workpiece.
  • Foot or fingertip control: This foot or fingertip control is ideal for controlling the current supply to Miller Weldcraft TIG torches for welding.

What is the difference between TIG & MIG welding?

Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding uses a static, non-consumable electrode, whereas metal inert gas (MIG) welding uses a consumable electrode that acts as a filler metal to meltdown & fill the gap between the metals to be joined. TIG welding may require the addition of a small diameter filler rod into the arc while the MIG welding electrode is continuously fed into the welding gun / torch from a wire pool. MIG welding electrodes are selected based on the welded materials. However, the TIG welding electrodes are always made of tungsten or its alloys.

How to choose between different types of tungsten rods while using Miller-Weldcraft TIG torches?

Miller's Weldcraft product line features a broad range of high-quality tungsten electrodes for serving diverse TIG welding needs.
  • Pure tungsten electrodes: These pure tungsten electrodes use an AC power source to form a clean balled end on heating and provide good arc stability.
  • 2% Ceriated tungsten electrodes: These tungsten electrodes (having 2% Cerium) perform well in both DC & AC welding processes and show excellent arc starting at low current settings.
  • 2% Lanthanated tungsten electrodes: These tungsten electrodes have 2% Lanthanum for welding carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel alloy, titanium & aluminium materials in both AC & DC power settings.
  • Rare Earth tungsten electrodes: These tungsten electrodes combine the best of all alloying rare earth metals to provide arc stability for welding all metals in AC / DC settings.

Which materials support AC or DC powered TIG torches?

AC powered TIG torches are generally used for welding non-ferrous metals like aluminium & magnesium, while DC powered Miller Weldcraft TIG torches are suitable for welding ferrous alloys like steel or stainless steel.
