847 Series Pneumatic Toggle Clamps

Destaco 847 Series pneumatic toggle clamps are integrated with an over-centre toggle action linkage combined with a pneumatic cylinder to provide a device that is easily adaptable for a wide variety of applications. These pneumatic clamps are ideal for quick clamping applications in the automotive and food & packaging industries. They are completely self-contained & require only a pressure source for user safety. These pneumatic toggle clamps are sensor ready for both round and T slot style sensors, and feature in-built flow restriction to eliminate the need for external flow controls. These clamps are available in solid & U bar clamping arm variants for keeping workpieces securely in place and handling loads up to 1000 lb. Destaco 847 Series pneumatic toggle clamps incorporate a clamping arm that provides wider clearance for easy loading using a sturdy helical-cam mechanism operated by a double-acting air cylinder. These units feature a large opening angle that ensures easy component removal and can handle a maximum pressure of 145 psig. These horizontal toggle clamps apply the holding force in the same downward direction, but the handle is, in its closed setting, in a horizontal position. This allows the unit to be used in instances where the operator needs more clearance above the clamp, or where you need the operator's hand to be away from the clamp during operation.

Uses

Destaco 847 Series pneumatic toggle clamps are ideal for assembling, checking & welding fixtures in the consumer goods, aerospace, automotive and food & packaging industries.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are horizontal pneumatic toggle clamps used?

Horizontal toggle clamps use an over-center locking action to hold a workpiece or fixture in the locked position.

What is the benefit of using a toggle clamp over other types of clamps?

The main advantage of a toggle clamp is that it is quick-acting. These clamps can generate high holding force from the limited amount of force you put into the clamp.

What is the difference between a horizontal and vertical hold down toggle clamp?

A toggle clamp is very flexible. The only difference between a horizontal and vertical hold down toggle clamp is the handle and bar. Both move in different directions. A horizontal clamp has the handle positioned horizontally (parallel with the base) when the clamp is locked, whereas a vertical clamp has the handle positioned vertically (perpendicular to the base) when clamped.

How much pressure is a toggle clamp capable of?

Destaco horizontal toggle clamps apply downward clamping force by increasing the applied load via toggle mechanisms. You can see the clamping force on the packaging itself, which is specifically measured in Newton. Use the information with the size of the toggle clamp to work out the degree of pressure that the tool will have to exert on a piece of wood. The larger the wood, the greater the pressure required. So, we would suggest, whether a clamp is not strong or large to apply enough pressure, it is a must to use a variety of tools. This gives a boost in the pressure.
